Hospitals are a critical cornerstone for every healthy community. However, with 21 hospital closures in Texas during the past 10 years, access to local healthcare is often considered a luxury for rural regions in Texas. Faith Community Health System (FCHS) stands out as the cornerstone of healthcare in the greater Jack County region–thanks to the skilled professionals’ tireless work and compassion.
During National Hospital Week, observed May 7 to May 13 this year, Faith Community Health System (FCHS) celebrates its healthcare team and recognizes the critical role hospitals play in our region.
“Everyone who works in our hospital system is undoubtedly a hero,” says Frank L. Beaman, CEO of FCHS. “Whether you are emergency staff, lab, nursing, medical provider, EMS, working in administration or facility services, one of our four clinics, or any of the support services in our system, every team member is outstanding.”
Healthcare in Jack County has evolved significantly over the last decade. In 2010, the healthcare system only had two medical providers on staff with just seven core services.
Today, FCHS boasts more than 42 medical providers and offers more than 20 core programs and services, a wellness and fitness center, four rural health clinics, and four nursing homes.
Faith Community Hospital, located in Jacksboro, serves as the cornerstone of FCHS and provides the community with a wide range of medical services such as 24-hour emergency care, advanced radiology services such as CT scanning and MRIs, surgical services, a clinical laboratory, and obstetric services.
FCHS began serving patients from its new hospital campus in 2015 to much fanfare. The new facility
replaced an aging hospital on the brink of closure. Boasting a modern facility with expanded space, the hospital had room to bring the greater Jack County region into a new generation of healthcare.
“Our regional hospital system is still a world-class facility – especially for a rural community,” Beaman explains. “From the time we moved in, to now, our team has done outstanding work to add several new and critical programs and services that the communities we serve need.”
We are looking forward to expanding emergency care services to the Bowie community come mid-Summer.
Beaman adds that FCHS is also a significant contributor to the local economy. He says that the hospital system employs hundreds of individuals from its various facilities, making FCHS one of the largest employers in the region.
“To think where we were just a decade ago and where we are now is humbling,” Beaman says. “During National Hospital Week, reflecting on our past and dreaming of the many great things in our future is unimaginable. Hospitals are critical for every community, and we are lucky to have such top level staff helping us care for each other.”
