Dr. Hope Whitsitt Welcomes New Patients at Faith Community Health System
Hope Whitsitt, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is one of Faith Community Health System’s newest healthcare practitioners, but if you take a look at her photo, you may very well already know her. Dr. Whitsitt is a hometown girl – a proud 2005 graduate of Jacksboro High School.
“I always knew I was going to go into a career in medicine,” said Dr Whitsitt, a doctor of nursing practice who has been seeing patients at the Graham Rural Clinic since July 15, 2024. She also assists with inpatient care at Jacksboro Hospital.
After earning degrees from Texas A&M and Baylor University, Dr. Whitsitt joined the U.S. Navy. While on active duty, Lt. Commander Whitsitt served as a nurse in California and the hospital ship U.S.N.S. Mercy from 2012 to 2019. She is now in the United States Navy Reserve.
After obtaining her DNP from Texas Christian University in 2024, Hope moved back to Jacksboro. “I have always known there was a lot of need here and I wanted to raise my family in a small community.”
She and her husband, high school sweetheart Aaron, moved their three children, Ciara, 8, Mila, 5, and Nash, 2, “back home.”
“I love the idea of being a family practitioner,” she said. “I want to care for people from birth-to-coffin so I can take care of every person who needs me at any age.”
Dr. Whitsitt’s background is in critical care but she is excited about growing her family prac, noting she is passionate about preventative care. “If people can make changes in their lives before we have to introduce medicine, it is always the best-case scenario.”
When it comes to spare time, Dr. Whitsitt said she doesn’t have much. “I’m a mom to three active kids and we are renovating my grandma’s house in Jacksboro. Between all of that and my patients, I don’t have a lot of extra time.
That being said, she loves working at the Graham Rural Clinic and meeting patients. “I want my patients to know I’m a hometown girl. I’m very approachable,” she said. “And my practice is based on collaboration. I want to work hand-in-hand with my patients to find health solutions that fit their lifestyle. For me, healthcare is not one-size-fits-all. I provide individualized care, adjusted to every patient’s needs.”
