To Faith Community Hospital and Discovery Medical Network,

Let this letter serve as my notice that I will be resigning from my contract and position here in Jacksboro with a final date of May 31, 2025.  It is with a heavy heart that I send this letter.  My life has seen a lot of changes in the last year.  My children have both graduated from high school, and I had the great fortune to become engaged and soon to be wed to an amazing woman.  I will be moving to Flower Mound over the course of the spring to live with my new wife.  I will do everything I can in cooperation with the administration and doctors of Faith to make sure this is a smooth transition.

All of these changes are bittersweet, because they involve leaving this fantastic hospital.  Faith Community Hospital is amazing.  There is a total commitment to serving our patients and our community. We have a great culture of cooperation between all areas of the hospital and personnel, and that is something special.  Everyone has been willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that our mission is accomplished.  I would be surprised if I ever found that combination of great features anywhere else.

Since I started in Jacksboro, we’ve restarted obstetrics, endoscopy, and surgery programs.  We’ve been through multiple EHR conversions, built a new hospital, endured COVID, and expanded to Graham, Bowie, and Alvord.  At times, I have been pulled into positions of leadership, and I hope whatever influence I wielded has made this hospital better than it was before me.  Faith has grown into a strong institution, and the outlook for the future is as good as we could make it.

I wanted to give a big heartfelt thanks to all the administrators, nurses, clinic staff, hospital staff, and physicians that I have worked with over these last 13 years.  It has been amazing and I will always look back fondly on this time in my life.  If the stars align and the opportunity arises, I would be ecstatic to get the chance to return in the future.

Sincerely,

Brent Shepherd, MD
