Nurses Week is an annual celebration dedicated to honoring and recognizing the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare and society as a whole. This week-long event typically takes place from May 6-12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
“Every day is a great day to make sure the wonderful nurses at Faith know how much they are appreciated,” said Paula Edwards, BSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “Nurses Week takes it to the next step – serving as an opportunity to express gratitude, appreciation and admiration for the tireless efforts and selfless dedication of nurses at Faith and worldwide.”
At the heart of Nurses Week lies a profound acknowledgment of the vital role nurses play in the healthcare ecosystem. “Nurses are the compassionate caregivers who provide comfort, support and healing to patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of our patients’ lives,” Edwards continued. “In our hospital and rural clinics, nurses are the backbone of healthcare delivery, working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the well-being of their patients.”
Many people think about doctors when they think about healthcare. But nurses are the glue that keeps high quality healthcare organizations, like Faith, together. “I am always amazed at the dedication and commitment of our nursing staff. They take compassion to a new level,” said Frank Beaman, CEO. “I am proud to recognize all of our fantastic nurses during National Nurses Week.”
Brooke Reaves, clinic manager, Faith Rural Health Clinic – Bowie, said nurses at Faith serve as advocates for their patients, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met “Whether it’s holding a patient’s hand during a difficult exam or offering a listening ear to someone in distress, nurses demonstrate unwavering commitment and compassion in every aspect of their work.”
Nurses Week also provides an occasion for the public to express their gratitude and appreciation for nurses’ contributions. At Faith, we are proud to offer patients and their families a great way to recognize nurses or any member of our healthcare team. Smiles at Faith” cards can be found at all Faith locations.
