Hospital highlights the broad services of Frank Walker, MD, General Surgeon
JACKSBORO, Texas (April 14, 2026) – Faith Community Health System is helping area residents better understand the various types of surgical capabilities that are available in Jack County through Frank Walker, MD, General Surgeon.
From colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, hernia repair, biopsies and skin lesion removal, Dr. Walker provides a range of general surgical services that allow many patients to receive care locally rather than traveling out of town.
“People often focus only on the procedure itself, but where that care happens matters too,” said Frank Walker, MD, General Surgeon. “Having surgery close to home can make the experience easier for patients and families, especially when it comes to preparation, follow-up and recovery.”
Faith Community Health System said local access to surgery can be especially important in rural communities, where travel can add stress and inconvenience. Recovering near home also allows family and friends to play a more active role in the healing process.
“Support from family and friends can make a real difference during recovery,” Dr. Walker said. “Being close to home helps patients feel more comfortable and better supported after surgery.”
Hospital leaders also want residents to understand that surgery often begins before a patient ever arrives at the hospital. In many cases, a preoperative visit with a primary care provider is an important part of the process. That visit helps review a patient’s overall health, medications and any concerns that should be addressed before surgery.
“A preoperative visit helps make sure patients are ready for surgery and that we are approaching their care in the safest, most appropriate way,” Dr. Walker said.
While March brought added attention to colorectal cancer screening and colonoscopy, hospital officials emphasized that Dr. Walker’s surgical capabilities extend well beyond that one procedure. General surgery includes a variety of services that can address both preventive and urgent needs.
“General surgery covers a wide range of care,” Dr. Walker said. “Sometimes it is a screening procedure like colonoscopy. Other times it involves treating pain, removing a lesion, or addressing a condition that is affecting daily life. Our goal is to provide skilled care locally and help patients understand their options.”
Frank L. Beaman, CEO of Faith Community Health System, said access to local surgery is an important part of serving the community.
“When patients can receive surgical care here at home, it helps reduce barriers and gives families more convenience and peace of mind,” said Beaman. “We are proud to offer these services locally through Dr. Walker.”
“We are fortunate to have individuals who care deeply about the future of healthcare in this area and are willing to invest their time to support it,” Beaman said. “Their leadership and dedication continue to shape the strength and stability of healthcare in Jack County.”
